To the family and especially Xander: My deepest and most heart-felt sympathies. My prayer is that God will surround you with His comforting presence and hold you close in your hour of grief. Many people cross our path in life, most will come and go, but there are those people who come into our life, and no matter how brief the stay, leave a footprint on our hearts. I met Karen only four short years ago. Two women journeying with breast cancer who had come out to experience dragon boating. Karen's incredible zest for life, her unmatchable spirit that always saw the cup as half full and never half empty, no matter how difficult things got; her infectious smile, and her courage and determination to live left a print on all our hearts. The boat will never be the same again. But more importantly, neither will any of the women whose lives she touched. Some day we will all meet at the finish line. Until then, my friend, paddles up.
