Condolences

Condolence From: Carolyn Swan, dragon boat crewmate
Condolence: My heartfelt condolences to Karen's family and especially Xander. I paddled with Karen for 2 years, and she was the strongest and most positive person I had ever met. One of the best memories was racing in Stratford in 2010, when we put Xander in the drummer's seat and we won a gold medal. Xander also got a medal and I remember how proud both of them were that day. Karen never gave up. She fought a good fight, accomplished a lot in her last few years, and inspired so many in her journey. She will always be remembered by her friends and former crewmates on the dragon boat crew, we were fortunate to have known her. God Bless.

Condolence From: Hazel Paugh (former secretary at River View School)
Condolence: I am so very sorry to hear of Karen's passing. She was such an outstanding parent to Xander. After her diagnosis and not being able to return to her job, she became an extraordinary volunteer at the school and encouraged many children to read. Karen was always amazingly upbeat. She will be missed very much.
My thoughts are with her son and parents at this sad time.

Condolence: Condolence: To my Berezowski family:
I can hardly believe that I'm sending a condolence message to you all. I write better than I speak as we all know. Karen, was like my sister and you all are my family. She had a smile that could light up a room and she and your family looked after us in some of the most darkest moments I have ever faced. You were all there when Jason died and again when my marriage ended. To have to say farewell until we meet again to her will be one of the most difficult things I will have to do but I know in my heart she fought the good fight and is now at peace. She knows she has left God's most precious gift to her in good hands and I promise you all we will be there for you just as you have been there for me. She was so courageous and optomistic and she made it so easy sometimes for us to even think she was ill. She had that indominable spirit and lived each day to the fullest. I will always think of her as our Peter Pan, she will never grow old and will be youthful and beautiful forever. I was watching the fireworks at Disney on our last day as we travelled by boat back to the resort and I thought of how appropriate for us to have been there and hear of her entrance into our Father's home. It was a place she loved and she believed in the magic. I too will always think of her and remember our many journeys we travelled together to always return to the place we met, in the Church where we are family and safe in the arms of our Saviour. I cherish the memories and am thankful to have called her friend and my sister. Love to you all. Heather and Andy.

Condolence From: Leelee Broderick - McNeil
Condolence: I met Karen 6 years ago. She came to my esthetic classes at niagara college cont. ed. She was incredibly smart and funny!!!we had so much fun in our classes. A group of girls followed all the evening classes and we all became friends...
One day Karen called and told me she had cancer. She was so positive about beating it. I asked what I could do to help...off we went to Hamilton for treatments. And so it began, her battle. She remained positive through everything. There were days when she was tired and pissed and frustrated...especially at the way cancer patients are treated by the health system here. I asked her one day if it wasn't for Zander, would she have fought so hard? she said no... her love for her son was her never ending strength, perserverence and determination...to battle cancer. She was funny, strong willed, beautiful and loved to live life to the fullest...she was inspirational and caring of others...always willing to help or support someone else even as she was suffering...there are not enough words to describe this amazing woman and friend...It was an honor to have her as my friend...love you Karen, you will be missed and remembered ...I hope you are laughing with Rodney right now...My condolences to Karen's entire family, especially, Zander xo Leelee

Condolence: My Dearest Karen; I Thank God for giving me the gift of knowing you! You were the most amazing woman I have ever met in my Life. I will never forget your strength, laughter, kooky jokes, accidental splashing, your dedication to Life and your family. Everytime I see a rainbow I will think of you. I will remember the wishes we spoke about on our late night phone calls while you were in Arizona and I will not cry (too much), I will smile at the strength and the Faith that you had and that you shared. I will never forget You Karen.
