What Are Cremation Costs?

Feb 21, 2023

Cremation costs can vary based on multiple factors, including the type of cremation service chosen, the location of the cremation, and the additional merchandise and services requested. On average, cremation costs can range from a few thousand dollars to significantly higher amounts, although the price can be less or more depending on the circumstances.

Cremation pricing can include items such as the cremation fee, the cost of an urn or other type of container for the ashes, death certificates, and any other necessary permits or authorizations. In addition, families may choose to purchase additional merchandise and services, such as a memorial service, a celebration of life, or a cremation casket.

It is important to note that cremation costs can vary widely, so it is recommended to obtain multiple quotes and compare options before making a decision. Additionally, some funeral homes and cremation providers offer packages that include all necessary items and services. Our Morgan Funeral Home team has provided information on cremation costs.

Cremation Costs For Funeral Packages

Some common items and services that may be included in a cremation funeral package include:

  • Cremation fee - This covers the actual process of cremation and is typically performed by a crematory or cremation provider.

  • An urn or other container for the ashes - This is where the remains, also known as ashes or cremated remains, will be placed after the cremation.

  • Death certificates - These are official documents that certify the death of a person and are required for various legal and administrative purposes.

  • Transportation - This covers the cost of transporting the deceased person to the crematory or funeral home.

  • Memorial service - This is a gathering of friends and family to remember and honour the deceased person, which may include a ceremony, reception, or another type of tribute.

  • Celebrations of life - Similar to a memorial service, a celebration of life is a non-traditional gathering to commemorate the life of the deceased person.

  • Cremation casket - This is a type of casket specifically designed for cremation and is used to transport the body to the crematory.
