In Memoriam, Christine Dyck

Yes, we will remember Christine for all she participated in at St. Andrew’s: elder, Sunday School teacher, youth group leader, choir member, incredible soup maker and Vice President of the Women’s Fellowship and WMS. However, what we will most remember about Christine is her wonderful heart. When Obadiah hurt his back at work, she picked him up, took him to the doctors and then to the hospital for x-rays. She was instrumental in raising funds for his tuition at Niagara College when his scholarship to the culinary school in NOTL fell through. When Obadiah’s mother arrived in Canada in January, Christine arrived with a mink coat for her to wear during her stay here. When people in the congregation were ill or recovering from surgery, she took them meals or organized other people to do so. When Don Hendry wanted to raise money for the organ fund by donating 20 paintings painted by his late wife Ainslee, she organized the sale of the paintings for him. For years she drove Irene Ford to work and would never accept payment. On numerous occasions, on those drives to Brock, she would stop and offer rides to students on their way there. Her generosity and kindness knew no bounds. Even when stray cats came around she would have to take care of them. She was always happy in the company of her many cats. We will dearly miss our beloved sister, Christine. May she rest in God’s eternal peace.
