Beloved Aunt

My Dear Aunt Helen,

Proudly holding the delicate chiffon overlay of your beautiful wedding gown, I felt like a princess to her adoring queen. You were radiant.

Still now, I can smell wood burning in the stove at Oma's, watching you patiently decorate the Christmas tree while tenderly protecting my fingers from the sharp Angel hair.

Some of my favorite memories were always revolved around Easter. Frank and I would dress in our best hat and coat with the excitement of knowing you had colored eggs and carefully hidden them throughout the gooseberry patch and various flower gardens. You decorated beautiful, individual baskets with chocolates for all four of your nieces and nephews. I can still see you, smiling and singing, loving the world and those around you.

Aunt Helen, you taught me how to delicately cleanse the kittens eyes with warm milk, play hide and seek, and collect and play buttons.

Your love was always shown in gentle kindness and tender intonation. Throughout the years and as we aged, our relationship and respect endured. I was always treated with the utmost sweetness and love.

While I mourn your passing, I am forever blessed and sincerely grateful for your unwavering love and kindness.

I know my father's devotion for you was reciprocal.

May you rest peacefully.

Love you both, Kathleen
