Condolences

Condolence From: Dave Cromie
Condolence: I arrived in Canada (from Ireland) in July 1975 having been offered a job by Acres and still remember vividly being greeted by Hendrik. Over the next nine years I had the good fortune to work directly for him on several occasions during which he taught me how to hone my analytical skills and become a well rounded engineer. I was working overseas when Hendrik retired but did bump into him on several occasions at Oakes Park where my son played soccer. I am presently the principal structural engineer in the Oakville office and when I am interrupted by a junior engineer seeking guidance I remind myself to be patient and afford them the same kindness and understanding I was shown during my early years in the Niagara Falls office. Hendrik played a very large role in my development as a structural engineer and I am eternally grateful. Although he is gone he will always be present in my heart.

Condolence From: John Lawrence
Condolence: I first met Hendrik in 1967, when I joined Acres, having emigrated to Canada from England. I greatly value my long association with Hendrik. He was a very talented engineer, who taught me a great deal. Not only that, he was also a great friend and colleague. My wife and I would like to express our heartfelt sympathy with Hendrik's family and loved ones. May God bless you and comfort you at this difficult time.

Condolence From: Lorne and Rosada Bride
Condolence: We were sorry to hear of Hendrik's passing. Every day was a pleasure to work with him at Acres
office. The annual Christmas Partys were the highlight of the year, when all the spouses could get together and have a visit. Rosada always remembered Hendrik's warm smile and touching sense of humour. Another big event was the ceremony that took place to honour 25 years service. Our daughter, Debbie recalls your two children attending Stamford Collegiate.
Our thoughts are with you at this time.

Condolence From: Horst Mielke
Condolence: As I pass on our condolences to the family, I reminisce about the many years spent together at Acres. Hendrik was indeed a great engineer and mentor, although not in my discipline (mechanical). We often shared some of our common experiences coming through WWII in Europe and enjoying our new home in Canada. His faith in God was an inspiration to many. May the Peace of God be your comfort.
