EICHENBAUM, Hendrik (P.Eng) – Born on January 6, 1925 in Tôrva, Estonia. Passed away at the age of 82 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on December 30, 2007 after a courageous 5 year struggle with cancer. Beloved husband for 57 years to Ellen (nee Aasamäe). Loving father of Eva Eichenbaum Barnes (Jack), of Kingston, Ontario, and Toomas Eichenbaum (Evelyn), of Burlington, Ontario. Grandfather of Krista and Laura Eichenbaum. Brother of Jaan (Asta) of St. Catharines, Ontario and Hilda Mikk, of Estonia. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, Estonia and Sweden. Predeceased by his parents Kusta and Minna, sisters, Linda and Ella, and brothers Aleksander and Elmar.
Hendrik was a long-time employee of H.G. Acres International as a Civil Engineer. He was an active member of St. Catharines Estonian Society and its Lutheran Congregation. He completed his Master of Divinity studies at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Catharines in 1990. Hendrik was a prolific writer and artist who touched and inspired many lives. He will be greatly missed.
Family will receive friends at the MORSE & SON CHAPEL of the MORGAN FUNERAL HOMES, 5917 Main Street on Saturday January 12, 2008 from 1:30 to 3:00 o’clock. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 o’clock in the funeral home chapel.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Concordia Lutheran Seminary at Brock University.
