Life Story for Allen Louis Mee

Allen Louis Mee
MEE, Allen Louis - Passed away peacefully in the NOTL hospital at the age of 67 on September 18, 2012 after a year long illness. Allen leaves behind his best friend and wife Cate. They were married for 41 years and had a fantastic life together; they worked at the same company, operated a vineyard, played on the same squash team, golfed weekly and enjoyed travelling around the world on their many holidays. Allen’s greatest joys were his two children Sarah and Johnny. Sarah is an engineer, married to Steve, they live in Wales and have two children Stuart and Seren. Johnny is a physiotherapist, married to Wendy, they live in Toronto and have three children Tory, Trevor and Lisa. Allen left his native South Africa in 1969 to pursue his engineering studies at the University of Calgary where he met Cate. After finishing his PhD. he joined Acres International (now Hatch) in Niagara Falls in 1974 and worked for them until he retired. He was their senior structural technical expert and was highly respected by his colleagues for his knowledge and mentorship. The one big regret is that he was unable to complete his model steam engine which was another of his passions.
Allen leaves behind his 2 elder brothers Ernest and David still living in South Africa. He will fondly be remembered as a wonderful uncle by Steve, Allen, Michelle, Barry, Genee, Hayley, Nicky and Sam. Allen will be greatly missed by his very many friends both near and far. The family would like to thank Dr. Deheshi, his colleagues and the great nursing staff on floor C3 at the Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton; Dr. Levesque of the oncology department in St. Catharines and also Dr. Viviers and the wonderful sympathetic staff at the Niagara-on-the-Lake hospital.
Donations can be made in Allen’s name to the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
The family will receive friends at the Morgan Funeral Home 415 Regent St. Niagara-on-the-Lake, on Saturday September 22nd, from 1-4p.m. A celebration of Allen’s life will be held at a later date, when his family from overseas can attend.
