Life Story for Robert Gordon Hunter

Robert Gordon Hunter
HUNTER, Robert (Bob) Gordon – with his family by his side at Heritage Place, on Friday January 15th, 2010 at the age of 86. Survived by his wife Jean Audene Hunter. Dear father of Patricia (Ron) Hunter-Taylor and Paula (Patrick) Quinn. Beloved grandfather of Jennifer Steele, Jacquelyn Allcock, Samantha Quinn, Bailey Quinn and Hunter Quinn and great-grandfather of Harley Davidson and James Davidson. Missed by his brother Jack Hunter and nieces and nephews Laurie (Brian) Rees, Rick Hunter, Mary (Brad) Zimmer, Michelle (Mark) Taylor, Sandy (Libby) Johnston and Tim Johnston. Bob was born and raised on a farm in Virgil. Once the family farm was sold, he became a Federal Fruit and Vegetable Inspector, and later worked for Mori Nurseries. Bob was a WWII Veteran (over-seas), a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 124 , a past master (Master Centennial Year 1967) of the Masonic Lodge #2 and a volunteer firefighter (retiring as a Captain) with NOTL District 3 Virgil. Bob was part of the fundraising team for the original Virgil Centennial Arena. He was a dam good baseball pitcher, avid golfer (one hole in one), Leaf’s fan, loved boating and fishing with his brother. He loved his toys; cars, boats and snowmobiles. Bob especially loved horses and dogs. But most of all he loved his kids and grandkids, taking great pride watching them play sports, swimming in his pool and running around his backyard. Special thank you to everyone at Heritage Place for taking such good care of our Dad! The family will receive friends at MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent Street, Friday January 22nd from 7-9 p.m. A service under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 124 will be held at 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel Saturday January 23rd at 11 o’clock. For Bob’s love of dogs and his community, donations to the Lincoln County Humane Society or NOTL Community Centre fundraising campaign would be appreciated.
