Life Story for Paul Richard Firlotte

Paul passed away peacefully in Niagara-on-the-Lake on November 10, 2013 in his 92 year. Predeceased by his father Sherman Firlotte, mother Honor Boulé and brother Desmond George. Survived by his sister in law Geogrette Firlotte and her children Christine, Paul Sherman, Sandra (Branco), Janet (Roland), Lorraine (Helder). He was Great Uncle to Norah (Rida), Brayden, Brent, Nicole, Rebeca, Natalie and Colleen.
Paul attended Loyola College in Montreal. In 1943, joined the RCAF and after the war attended St. Francis Xavier University.
From 1947 to 1949, he studied Interior Design and Architecture at the Parsons School of Design and Cornell University in New York City. In the spring of 1950, joined the firm of James A. Oligivy Ltd. Later as Vice President at Croydon Furniture he established their first showroom, Regency Row in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
In 1968, he established the firm Downton-Firlotte and Associates concentrating on residential and commercial interiors. In 1969, established the Interior Design Program at The Niagara College of Applied Arts, and remained there for 17 years.
While in the Niagara area, he purchased residential and commercial buildings in Niagara on the Lake, and concentrated on the restoration and furnishing of many historic building. Paul resided in the old town until his death.
The mass of the redemption of his soul will be celebrated at the St. Vincent de Paul Church, Niagara- on-the-Lake on Thursday November 14, 2013 at 11am. Interment to follow at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery.
