It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Halbert John Gurnell, dear husband, brother & uncle who passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019 in his 70th year @ the GNGH, Niagara Falls after his battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his mother Yvonne Gurnell (Veit) and his father John Harry Gurnell. He is survived by his wife Lorna & his sister Sue (Bryan Dawkins) and brother David (Mary Jo) and his step-mother Betty and his niece Leanne and nephews Brent & Mark Dawkins & families, step brothers & sisters, sister & brothers-in law and many dear friends in Ontario and Alberta. Hal enjoyed a long and successful career in the steel industry both in Toronto and Edmonton. His love for golf and acquiring his pilot license was a source of happiness as well as his love of dogs! In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place at MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent St. here in Niagara-on-the-Lake. A celebration of life will be held later this spring/year.
