The No-Cook Chef cooks dinner...

Special memories of Barb....last winter Barb invited me to the Manse to dinner....she told me she did know how to cook very well but she wanted me to have a home cooked meal with her....she made me a chicken stir fry....so good, I had seconds....she was so happy and surprised that the meal turned out so great.....we sat together in the dining room for about 2 hours while she told me about the mission trip she had been on...and how the children could not go to school unless they had shoes.....she told me about a little boy who sat watching the children in the school at their lessons....but he had no shoes and he had no lunch.....Barb approached him and he told her his story....he wanted to go to school so badly.....and he was so hungry....Barb told me that she and the others she was with assembled every bar and treat in their packs and gave these to the boy...she also told me that it was her mission to make sure that poor children who had no shoes could get shoes and go to the school....she wanted to raise money in the church to support the mission and to get a decent stove so that the food could be cooked on it and no child should go shoeless or hungry. That experience hurt her deeply and she was seeking a way to serve children and bring them to the goodness of the Lord. We retired to the living room and spent a couple more hours just talking ...down to earth girl talk....so human...lots of fun...she was so warm, so human, such a good friend....I will always remember also her mischievous side, that amused twinkle in her eye and her mega-watt smile...often followed by her unique and wonderful laugh. I will always be thankful that God blessed me so in having met Barb and shared special moments in friendship....she was truly a special friend.
