As a 5 year old, I attended her wedding to my Uncle Bruno. Over the years, our family became very close to Della, Bruno and their kids (my cousins). There were MANY happy family gatherings. Della was an AMAZING cook--especially her baking! Whenever I visited, she always made sure to treat me with some baking. I really enjoyed visiting her and Bruno on Woodfield and sitting on the front porch when the weather was nice, talking about all sorts of things. Della was a wealth of information regarding the Gretzinger family--aunts, uncles, cousins--she knew the dates of births, deaths, weddings,etc. For YEARS, Della would send me a birthday card--and I would try to send her one on her birthday in February, as well as one for Bruno in May. She was such an easy person to talk to. Just this past Friday, I visited her in the hospital and we talked for most of the hour I was there. A visit with Aunt Della was to be treasured. When my dad passed away and my mom was alone on the farm, Della and Bruno made it a point to visit her on a regular basis, and mom really appreciated their visits--as did I. Della was a very caring aunt and I will miss her very much.
