We shared the caregiver experience

Dear Paul:

From the first time I met you and Paola, I was so impressed by your obvious love and dedication to Paola and her mother, Rita. I understand the toll it takes on a relationship to become the primary caregivers to a parent because my husband and I made a similar decision to look after my father in our own home. Paola and I had numerous conversations about how to deal with the challenges we faced every day; and, hopefully, Paola found it helpful to share some of her frustrations with me while enjoying the humorous and rewarding moments that thankfully helped to preserve our sanity.

I loved seeing Rita participate socially in our lawn bowling events and I was always impressed that you facilitated her social contact with others; and how respectfully and graciously you and Paola guided her through every day.

You are in my thoughts and prayers that you will be given the strength to cope with the reality of the present and to always look ahead to the future, fortified by all the beautiful memories of Paola.
