Jan Melnyk (Hughes)
Dear Auntie Joan, Digby, David, Jennifer & families, I have known Uncle John for 50 years, ever since I was a kid in Vineland, back in the day when the Elliotts lived in the bank. Uncle John was always friendly, easygoing and laidback--and he never changed. And so funny! How many times, after someone said something funny, did you hear Uncle John fire off a deadpan zinger that would crack everyone up. He had perfect timing. Because I live so far way, I haven't seen the family for many years, so I was thrilled to see Uncle John and Auntie Joan last summer. I was happy to hear his laugh again--and Aunty Joan's too. I know you will all miss him so much, especially you, Auntie Joan. I rarely saw you apart. The day I heard that Uncle John passed away, I felt so sad, and I couldn't stop feeling that sadness. But the next day I woke up and somehow I knew, everything was fine with Uncle John. Godspeed!
Love,
Jan
