Obituary for Norah King

KING, Norah – The Lord called Norah home in her 98th year into his waiting arms with her loving husband Bob (1985) at his side on Friday November 22, 2019. Her second journey has just begun. She leaves behind to remember her, her children Robert, Allister (Suzanne), Randall (Mikell), Beverley (Roland) Wiebe, Tom, Mary (Terry) Murphy, Debbie (Wally) Redekop, Norine MacIntosh and Sharon (Darren) Michlik, Her grandchildren Jennifer, Jamie, Jonathan, McAllister, Billy, Nora-Jane, Michael, Corrin, Tommy, Blakely, MacKenzie, Cassandra, Thomas, Angelica, Justin, Weston, Georgia, Brandon, Lucas and Dianne and her 12 great-grandchildren. Norah was born in Durham, England in a family of 9 children. She married her sweetheart in 1945. They lived in Scotland during WWII where she worked in a factory for the war effort while her husband served in the Air Force. After the war they moved to St. Catharines and then built a home in Niagara-on-the-Lake, where they raised their family. In 2011, Norah was recognized by the Town for her community service having volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society for 50 years, canvasing for the Heart & Stroke Society and helping at Chateau Gardens for church service. She also was a longtime member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Woman’s League. Norah’s family would like to thank the staff of Chartwell where she lived for her last 4 years.
The family will receive friends at the MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent St., Niagara-on-the-Lake on Monday from 6 to 8 pm and Tuesday from 11 am to 1 pm followed by a Funeral Service in celebration of her life at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Lincoln County Humane Society.
