Life Story for Nicholas Peter "Nick" Marino

Nicholas  Peter "Nick"  Marino
MARINO, Nicholas – Passed away peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Saturday August 18, 2018 in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of the late Marion Marino (nee Graham). Loving father of Wayne (Nancy), of Windsor; Bob, of Carlton Place; Cathy Mills (Rick), of NOTL; Mary Ellen, of Courtice, and the late Margaret Ann (1960). Dear grandfather of Graham, Nicholas, Aaron (Kaley), William, Alexander (Rebecca), Katelyn and great-grandfather of Dominic, Lincoln, Nevaya and Griffin. Predeceased by his parents Peter and Artemisia Marino and his sister Lena Dandurand. He will be deeply missed by his sister Anna Sartor (Dal) and brother Jim Marino (Claudette). Fondly missed by many nieces and nephews. Nick was a lifelong resident of Niagara-on-the-Lake and served his community in a number of ways resulting in his selection as Citizen of the Year in 1978. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Navy, having served his country in WWII and a 70-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 124. Nick was especially proud of his work over many years as the poppy chairman of the Legion. He was an elected member of the Lincoln County Separate School Board and served with distinction as its Chairman. In addition, he was a member of the Canadian Catholic School Trustees Association for a number of years. Nick was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus council 1394. In the community Nick contributed as a volunteer fireman, minor league baseball coach and a legendary umpire. His favorite pastime was golf and he was a member of Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club for over 50 years. In his work life Nick was a Stationary Engineer and had a long and enjoyable career at Thompson Products. Nick’s family will receive friends at the MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent St., Niagara-on-the-Lake on Monday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Vigil will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 3 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Church, NOTL, on Tuesday morning at 11:00 am. Cremation will follow with interment at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery at a later date.
