On Thursday, November 17, 2022, Marion Doreen McComb of St. Catharines passed away peacefully at her home at Ina Grafton Gage Village at the age of 93.Doreen was the beloved wife of the late Eric M. McComb and devoted mother of daughters Linda (Robert Farmer), Florida, Carol (Robin Fraser), Niagara-on-the-Lake, Karen McGrath, Niagara-on-the-Lake and Beverly Alldridge, Niagara Falls.She was the beloved grandmother of Meredith Fraser (Janet Gardner), Adam Alldridge (Keely Roberts) and Nicholas Alldridge (Alix) and great grandmother of Ella Howe, Avery and Kallie Alldridge, and Joseph Alldridge.Born to Thomas and Laura Burkitt on April 23, 1929 in Frankford, Ontario, Doreen was the much loved younger sister of her brothers the late Hugh and Harry Burkitt and older sister to her late brother John Burkitt and late sister Betty Thompson.In 1947 Doreen married her soulmate Eric and they shared 56 wonderful years together. The couple and their four daughters lived in several places in Ontario and abroad as Eric moved up in the Ontario Hydro organization. They were both excellent athletes and were well known in local curling clubs and bridge circles wherever they lived.Known for her grace, quick wit, fierce determination and independence, Doreen was a long-time resident of Ina Grafton Gage Village in St. Catharines. The world was a better place with Doreen in it; she will be greatly missed by her family and all who had the good fortune to know her. Private arrangements have been made with Morgan Funeral Home, 415 Regent St. Niagara-on-the-Lake.
