Life Story for Marion Constance Hamilton Booth (Hagen)

With deep sadness, we mark the peaceful passing of Marion Constance Hamilton Booth (Hagen), who left us on October 18th 2017 at the age of 95 years.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. John Forbes Booth in 1998, and by her sister Donalda in 2011. Much loved mother of Joan (Walter) Troy, Sheila (Hans) Krause, Dorothy (Scott McGregor) Booth, and Paul (Helen) Booth. Adored grandmother of Stephanie and Simon, Kirsten and Christian and Laura and Amy. Dear sister of Mabel and Eileen of Edmonton, and admired aunt to many nieces and nephews and to many other relatives. Marion will be deeply missed by Judy Guilbault and Suzanne Heslop.
The family extends sincere thanks to all the wonderful staff at Upper Canada Lodge for their kindness and excellent care.
Marion was born in Vermilion, Alberta. She began her career as a teacher, but after finding the children far too entertaining to be strict with, she moved on to graduate in 1949 as a nurse. In 1950, she moved to Ontario en route to see the world but at the St. Catharines General Hospital, she met John, the love of her life. Together, they opened the Regional Niagara Biomedical Laboratories, where she flourished as Business Manager.
Marion’s graceful and vital personality endeared her to everyone she met. She travelled extensively with John, close friends, and her family, leaving new friends all over the world.
At home, Marion was an avid bridge-player, loyal opera fan and CBC Radio listener. Dinners at the Booth household were legendary; there was always room for one more at the table, and always time for one more glass of wine.

The family will receive friends at MORGAN FUNERAL HOME 415 Regent St., Niagara-on-the-Lake, on October 27th from 2 – 5 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
Please join the family for a final glass of wine, at the celebration of her life to take place at Hans & Sheila’s home, 368, Niagara Blvd, Niagara-on-the-Lake, starting at 6 pm. Light refreshments to be served after 7pm.
