Obituary for Kazimiera "Kathy" Skubel

SKUBEL, Kazimiera “Kathy” - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mom, Kathy Skubel. As she peacefully took her last breath, she was surrounded by her loving family at the St. Catharines Hospital on Monday February 21, 2022 at the age of 79. Mom is now reunited with our dad (Bruno-1996), who she missed dearly. Loving mother of Bruno (Donna), Irene (Keith) Dyson, Teddy (Jo-Ann) and Jerry. Cherished Babcia of Alicia, Amanda, Dylan (Sam), Kiersten (Travis), Madeleine and Brandon. Great Babcia of Jolie and Bennett. Dear sister of Edward (Teresa) Szybka and Marisa Zybka of Poland, sister-in-law of Felicia Szybka and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Predeceased by her parents Jozef and Zofia and her brother Stanley Szybka.
Family meant everything to Mom - her wnuki (grandchildren) meant the world to her, and her kids were always number one.
Mom cherished spending holidays with the family, spending countless hours in the kitchen making her famous pierogies, borsch and cabbage rolls. Anyone who knew our mom, knew her love of spending time in the kitchen; cooking, baking and listening to her favourite polka music on the radio. "Spróbuj (try it)!" she would always say - when you were at Mom's house, there was always room for seconds.
Mom loved tending to her garden- never a weed in sight, and only she could can the perfect jar of pickles.
Mom took pride in her farm; it was a legacy that was near and dear to her.
Mom, we will miss you so much- your loving heart, generosity, hard work and dedication made us who we are today and we thank you for that.
We would like to extend a very warm thank you to the nurses, doctors, PSWs, and all the staff in the dialysis unit that cared for her at the St. Catharines Hospital, and the staff at the Heatherwood Retirement Home for their kindness and compassion.
Family will receive friends at the MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, on Thursday February 24, 2022 from 4 pm to 8 pm. All visitors must wear a face mask and practice physical distancing. A private Funeral Mass will take place at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
