Obituary for Joyce "Joy" Ormsby

ORMSBY, Joyce “Joy” - Passed away peacefully at Upper Canada Lodge on Tuesday January 17, 2023, in her 95th year after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in Preston, UK in 1928, Joy emigrated to Canada in 1952 with her husband John, who predeceased her in 2010.
Joy leaves behind two sons Stephen (Christine) and Robin, three grandsons Eric, Stuart, and David and three great grandchildren Charlotte, Cora, and John. Joy is also survived by her second cousin and friend Julia Owen and her three daughters Meghan, Emma, and Elizabeth.
Residents of Niagara-on-the-Lake will remember Joy for her decades of work as a researcher and author at the local history Museum. Joy held the title of official town historian for many years and answered inquiries from all over the globe about the history and architecture of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place at St. Mark’s Anglican Church Cemetery on Saturday April 29, 2023 at 11 am where she will be interred next to her husband John.
