Life Story for Frank Ferdinand Wieler

Frank Ferdinand Wieler
It is with sadness that the family of Frank F. Wieler announces his death on 2 January at the London Health Sciences Hospital.
Frank, the son of Anneliese and Frank Wieler, was born on 26 April 1958 in St.Catharines. He attended Carleton Street Public School and the St.Catharines Collegiate. His parents encouraged his interest in music and he began the study of the guitar. Even though he ceased being actively involved in performing music he continued to carry a deep and passionate appreciation for musical expression all his life. At sixteen he left school to work on the Alaska Highway. In 1976 he began work in construction. In 1983 he and Harold Dyck formed CHSC Homes. Following an industrial accident he began to teach himself computer skills. His insatiable curiosity and considerable intellect stimulated his curiosity of what a computer could do to assist in the development of CHSC.
In 1992 he joined the Board of the Niagara Pumphouse which afforded the possibility of interaction with many local artists. Frank collaborated in book design for a number of St.Mark’s publications and genealogical studies.
His connections with art led to a discovery of the works of Shakespeare, Whitman, Moore and Vivaldi. Frank found inspiration in the work of Mies van der Roe.
Frank was both respected and trusted as he worked with clients to produce new and exciting residential designs. He was responsible for the design and project management of Reif, Pillitteri, Konzelmann and Hare wineries.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife Catherine O’Donnell, his mother Anneliese Wieler, his brother Theo, his uncles Martin and Theo, his nephews Mitchell and Matthew Wieler, his two step-children Sean and Sara O’Donnell and his step-granddaughter Alyanna O’Donnell.
Frank understood the importance of education, so the Alyanna O’Donnell Education Fund has been established to help with the future education of Alyanna.
A visitation will be held at the Morgan Funeral Home, Regent Street, Niagara on the Lake on Monday 8 January at 12:00 noon and a service of celebration at the funeral home at 2:00pm. Committee will follow at St.Mark’s Cemetery and a reception will be held at St.Mark’s Addison Hall at 3:00pm.
