Life Story for Edward Charles Stewart

Edward Charles Stewart
Edward Charles Stewart
November 9, 1923 to September 11, 2018

Did you ever think: "What will people say about me when I'm gone?” We never had any doubt about that for our Dad. We knew that whatever they said, it would be good.

Edward Charles Stewart was born to Edward Winston Stewart and Elsie (Bennett) Stewart. He had three siblings: Anita (Wilson), Bob (Stewart) and Elaine (Taylor).

Ed served Canada in WWII as an RCAF airplane radio mechanic in the European theatre. Post war, he owned and operated a fruit farm in Niagara-on-the-lake, served the local community delivering water and furnace oil and lastly worked at the Welland Canal locks and lakes traffic control for the St. Lawrence Seaway until his retirement in 1986.

Ed married Rose Leblanc, the love of his life, in 1954. Together they raised 8 children, and nothing was more important to him than his wife, his children, and his extended family and friends.

Ed passed away at the grand old age of 94.

He joins his dear wife Rose, his brother Robert and wife Beryl, his sister Elaine and husband Jim Taylor, and brother-in-law Russel Wilson in heaven. He also joins his daughter Marguerite, daughter-in-law Lynda, and nephews Brian Stewart, Michael Wilson, and Bill Taylor.

He leaves behind his dear older sister Anita (Russ’s wife, who is still going strong at 96 years young!); his sons and daughters: Scott and his wife Karen, Tim and his wife Michelle, Lynn and his wife Nancy, Larry and his wife Mary-Ann, Sue and her husband Al, Anita and her husband Ralph, Michele and her husband Bryce; his 22 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and his many dear nieces and nephews.

Ed lived a very full life, all focused around his family. We will miss him dearly, but also know that he is in a good place, finally once again with the love of his life Rose.

Visitation with the family will take place at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Niagara-on-the-Lake from 10 am till 1 pm on Saturday September 22nd, followed by a private family interment.
