Obituary for Dr. Victorine Beddage
Dr. Victorine Beddage, 1943 – 2022
Dr. Victorine Yogalosani Beddage (Vicki, Loshani) passed away peacefully on June 22, 2022, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, with her family at her side. Born and raised in Sri Lanka, Vicki moved to England for her medical residency, where she met and married Don (Ratne) in 1977. They emigrated to Canada in 1983, settling in North Bay, Ontario where she practiced as a psychiatrist for over 30 years. She was known as a dedicated physician with a deep commitment to her patients. In retirement, they moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake. She was a passionate musician who sung in choirs, played the piano, harp and ukulele. She had a spirit of adventure and enjoyed travelling the world with her husband. As a true lifelong learner, she attended medical conferences and meetings even in retirement. Sustained by her faith, she was an active member of the Christian community throughout her life. She is survived by her husband Don, son Shirantha, daughter-in-law Caroline, sister Rajini, and many family members throughout the world. Visitation will be held at MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent St. Niagara-on-the-Lake on Monday June 27, 2022 at 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00pm. Funeral service will be held at Grace United Church, 222 Victoria St, Niagara-on-the-Lake on Tuesday June 28, 2022 at 1:00pm followed by interment at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery. For family and friends, unable to attend, livestreaming of the service at Grace United Church will be available by going to the Morgan Funeral Home Facebook site at 12:45pm. No code is required. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the North Bay Regional Health Center – (Mental Health Unit) are greatly appreciated by Dr. Beddage’s family.
