Life Story for Brian Bruce Morrison

Brian Bruce Morrison
Brian Bruce Morrison
(March 27, 1961 – August 31, 2018)
Following a 20-year medical battle, Brian passed away peacefully on August 31st. A consummate host and storyteller with a gregarious personality, Brian will be fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humour, infectious personality and his unwavering love of family and friends.
Brian was born in Cambridge, Ontario and attended Wilfrid Laurier University. Upon graduation Brian joined TD Bank and was posted to several small communities in southern Ontario before moving to head office in Toronto in 1990. A promising career path was cut short however, when in 1999 he was diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia. The subsequent bone marrow transplant led to a permanent medical leave.
Brian never let his medical challenges get him down though. He faced one setback after another with the determination, bravery and class we’ve all come to expect. He always took the time to learn the names and thank each of the doctors, nurses and technicians on his “team” at Princess Margaret and Toronto General hospitals. A special note of appreciation to Dr. Jeff Lipton who was at Brian’s side for the entire journey.
Through a life well-lived, but nowhere near full-length, Brian put his unique accent on collecting, a hobby he embraced with enthusiasm. His collections included 19th century English china, rare garden specimens, books and vintage clothing. But the collection of which he was most proud, and which stood him in good stead these past few months, were his many friendships. Brian possessed a tremendous capacity to connect with and inspire those around him.
Missed by a loving family and his wide circle of friends, Brian is survived by his partner of 23 years Lyle Hall, his loving parents Marilyn and Bruce, brother Craig (Angela), sisters Lynn Schwartzentruber (Terry) and Ann Pennington (Murray) as well as seven nephews, five grand-nieces and a grand-nephew.
A celebration of life Brian’s life will be held at the Niagara District Court House National Historic Site
2nd Floor, 26 Queen Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake (enter via side door off public parking lot) on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 3 pm. Please RSVP to orie_berlasso@hotmail.com. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Hospice Niagara where Brian spent his last few weeks surrounded by care and affection.
