Condolences

Condolence From: Jamie and Connie Slingerland
Condolence: My regrets to hear that Blanche has passed away. I would often meet Blanche at municipal events when I was on NOTL Council. Your mother was always kind to me. I think the Slingerland family and Quinns have know our families for generations.
It is a shame to see another long time family member from Niagara-on-the-Lake pass away. Soon there will be few of us left.
My Parents and myself new Blanche by first names, I went to school with Pat and Paula and our kids were with Samantha in play group and nursery school. Our families have known each other for many generations. I wish you the best,
Jamie

Condolence From: Leslie Moulson on behalf of the 1st NOTL Sparks
Condolence: The 1st NOTL Sparks have been fortunate to have Miss Blanche attend a meeting on or near Remembrance Day - a real WWII veteran to inspire these five- and six-year old girls. Miss Blanche talked about the war and her service in Canada. One of our older girls had been to the Brock monument with her class and thought she had put two and two together. Soldiers in a war in Canada. She asked Miss Blanche if she knew General Brock. Without blinking an eye, Miss Blanche said, "We went steady."
We will really miss having such a wonderful example of a successful woman at our meetings.

Condolence: Dear Pat, Paula and family. It was with sadness that we heard of Blanche's passing last Friday. Her quick wit, dry sense of humour and her love of the Town will always be remembered. She was a true lady with an indomitable spirit, an amazing woman. A life well lived with much laughter.
May the wonderful memories of Blanche comfort you during this difficult time.
Stan & Susan Harrington

Condolence: I have know Blanche for 40+ years in IAAP. You could always tell what table she was sitting at as there was always laughter. She was one of a kind. I'm know she was greeted in heaven by her IAAP friends...so lookout...that next thunderstorm will be them causing a ruckus. My sympathy to her family.

Condolence From: Pat Taylor, CAP
Condolence: I'm thinking that today, as self-appointed "Queen of the Universe," Blanche is no doubt receiving the "Royal Tour" upstairs--guided and welcomed yesterday by her longtime IAAP friends Jean McMillan, Cathy Wise and Irene Hanlin, CPS, who have led the way. I'm sure it's a wonderful reunion for the four of them!
Our friend Blanche was an active member from 1964 to 2014 in what was originally called the National Secretaries Association (NSA). The Association name evolved over the following years to include Professional Secretaries International (PSI) and the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP).

Quite early in her Association involvement, Blanche was proud to have written and passed the required six exams to attain her Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) designation. Over the years, she was quick to encourage others to work towards this designation.

During her 50 years in the Association, Blanche first belonged to the St. Catharines Chapter from 1964 to 1979 serving in various leadership positions. When the St. Catharines Chapter closed in 1979, Blanche transferred her membership to the Horseshoe Falls Chapter, which was also part of the Ontario Division. She served the Ontario Division leadership as Division Secretary in 1979/80, Division Treasurer in 1981/82, Division President in 1982/83, Division Membership and New Chapter Committee Chair in 1984/85, and Division Bulletin Award Committee Chair in 1986-88. In Horseshoe Falls Chapter, Blanche served as Chapter President for four terms during 1980/81, 1987/88, 1993/94 and 2011/12, and as Chapter Co-President in 1992/93.

When the Association closed all Chapters and Divisions world-wide in 2014, at our final Horseshoe Falls Chapter Meeting in December 2014, we were honoured to celebrate Blanche's contributions throughout her 50 years in IAAP with a "Graduation Ceremony" created specifically for Blanche Quinn, CPS.

The following acronym for “Blanche” is based on some of the attributes Blanche displayed throughout her IAAP involvement.

B - Bright
L - Loyal
A - Amazing
N - Nifty
C - Clever
H - Humourous
E - Exceptional

When we're able to assemble as a group to celebrate our friendship with Blanche, we'll be able to elaborate on how these attributes were selected/demonstrated through Blanche's active interaction with all of us both within and outside of our PSI/IAAP activities over the years.

You’re in our thoughts and prayers, Blanche, through this recent “graduation.” Take care—keep smiling!
