Condolences

Condolence From: Paul Stretch
Condolence: My memories of Barry were of growing up in Niagara in the 50's and 60's. He was always an "instigator " for lots of pranks and always a quick answer for everyone. I left the area in 1974 and have not seen him for well over 40 years but recognized is picture instantly. Taken far too soon. My condolences to the Archer family.

Condolence: When I first started my radio sales gig in St. Kitts, I was really green. I also was full of ambition- and completely unfamiliar with the area. Barry decided he would be my mentor- and I was open to any help I could get. Soon our mornings of searching the area for new prospects added in a lunch and a chat. I learned about his Mom and his love for his furry kids. Some days we end up at the casino and eventually, i become a pretty solid black jack player. Barry was more than a mentor. He was a friend. I’ll never forget his belly laugh and quick zingers. I also like that he called me a “ball buster” within an hour of first meeting him. I’ll never forget you Mr. Archer.

Condolence: Some people make you laugh - hard and long - just by saying hello. My time with Barry was filled with laughter and fun...from our days in Standard Radio to his visits to Phoenix over the past several years. His personal friendship with me and the rest of my family will never be forgotten.

Condolence: I met Barry in high school and we always had a great time as with a lot of the NOTL guys. Barry had a great sense of humor and his best was when it was dark. Only he could pull that one off and we would all laugh. Barry had a true love for animals and loved his cats. My condolences to his family. Barry will be greatly missed.

Condolence: I've known Barry for most of my life, although he was better known to most of his acquaintances as Stones. I always enjoyed his sense of humour and the way we could rib each other. He certainly was a straight shooter and his direct remarks were always good for a laugh. He was more generous than a lot of people realized - he was always there if a donation to a charity was needed. He loved his sports and loved playing golf and fast ball. I remember many good times spent on the golf course with him, and always rubbing it in that I beat him!
I just spoke to him last week and was so sorry to hear of his sudden passing. My deepest condolences to his family. He will be remembered well.

Condolence: Barry was my neighbour. I didn't know him well but I talked with him long enough to know who he was. He had a dry, cranky sense of humour that I appreciated. Barry made me laugh whenever we chatted across the driveway fence, he loved to talk. Barry was a straight shooter, whether you liked it or not! The first time I met him he told me he worked nights and said “Don't ever knock on my door in the afternoon. I play with my cats when I get home and then I go for a nap.” serious words. I knew not to knock on the door in the afternoon!
We made an instant connection, he played golf with my mom and dad and lived in a home Tim and Michelle bought, the one he proudly picked out for them even though he complained about the colour of the porch, every time we chatted!
For the short time I spent with Barry I really liked him, I knew he didn't understand that because he said so! Barry felt I didn't know him to like him, curious…
Take time to say hello to your neighbours, make sure they’re ok and when they leave say goodbye, wave, and smile because you never know, it just might be the best part of their day, whether they like it not!
