Life Story for Barbara Ann Lake

Barbara Ann Lake
LAKE, Barbara Ann (nee: Elliott) - With deep knowledge of how much she was truly loved, Barb passed away peacefully on the morning of September 26, 2018.
Barb’s life was illuminated by the cherished family and friends that surrounded her and to whom she was a perpetual source of long-winded stories, millions of giggles, and more than one comforting hug. Barb was born the fifth child to her adoring parents, Jim and Daisy Elliott on September 16, 1937. A devoted parishioner of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, she was forever proud of her family’s storied history in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Her five siblings, Hope, John, Betty, Heather, and Donald all shared a special bond, and you considered yourself lucky if you got to experience the banter of the Elliott clan. While at Thompson Products in St. Catharines, Barb’s class and beauty caught the eye of a man from across the tunnel. On September 6, 1958, Barb married Gary Lake and the two began a loving partnership that spanned six decades. Together, Barb and Gary shared life’s many joys and challenges, and through it all, Gary’s admiring gaze never changed. The apples of Barb’s eye were no doubt her three children, Pam, Heather, and Greg. The Lake household was always full of activity. Between summer trips to Georgian Bay with the extended family…and Friday night (or sometimes Tuesday night) gatherings with neighbours, Barb created a world of enriching experiences for her children. And yet, Barb’s unconditional love and support were her greatest gifts. Barb’s kindred spirit brought endless joy and laughter to her six grandchildren. Affectionately called “G,” Barb always gave her grandkids what they wanted, whether that was an extra cookie or an extra swimming partner, but she’ll be remembered most for her devotion to their continued success and happiness. Barb’s reverent place in our world will be dearly missed. The lives of Gary, her children Pam (Ron), Heather (Len), Greg (Cori), grandchildren Philip, Martine, Sarah, Sydney, Maxwell, Connor, and siblings Hope (Allen), John (Joan), Betty, Heather (Bruce), Donald (Ginny), and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends have been forever changed for the better.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church 323 Simcoe Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake, on Monday from 11:30 am to 1 pm will a funeral service to follow at 1 pm. Burial to Victoria Lawn Cemetery will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake.
