Obituary for Anton "Tony" Breedveld

BREEDVELD, Anton “Tony” - passed away unexpectedly from a fatal fall on Saturday August 28, 2021 at the age of 66. He was born on October 12, 1954, to Jan and Regina Breedveld in Delft, The Netherlands, and attended public and secondary schools in Niagara on the Lake. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball, hockey (The Turkey Vultures) and golf with good friends. He was a long-distance cyclist, spending a summer cycling through parts of Europe (Holland, Germany, and England) while camping and visiting relatives along the way. Anton was also a lifelong sports enthusiast enjoying hockey and European soccer, in particular. He worked at McDonnell Douglas and Aimco before moving back to NOTL to grow grapes. Anton was an avid birder, enjoyed woodworking, even building his own canoe for family camping in Algonquin Park. He never lost his Dutch ancestry, had a “green-thumb” growing and canning produce from the garden and, his specialities, Croquettes and Boterletter became a family tradition. Anton is predeceased by parents Jan Breedveld Sr. and Regina Wessling Breedveld Sr. and, sadly missed by sister, Regina and, brothers Maarten and Jan (Wendy), cousins Simone (Bart) VanRijsbergen and, great cousins, Jeroen and Peter of Apeldoorn, the Netherlands and, Jennifer Brickell of Calgary and her family in Oshawa. Anton, you will forever live in our hearts and memories. A private family service will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.morganfuneral.con
