Cherniuk, Irene - It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Irene Cherniuk (Dove) at the age of 91 on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Amica St. Catharines Place Retirement Residence. Predeceased by her husband William “Bill” (2001) and son, Bill (1992). Dear mother to daughters Colleen, Julie (Chris) and sons Michael (Jan), Philip and Richard. Proud grandmother of Alexandra, Lawra, Ellexis, Haley (Tyler), Kaitlyn, Mackenzie, Benjamin, Nathan and great grandmother to Filomena. Loving sister to Rita (Tom), Doreen, Eddie and late brother, Harold. Special Aunt to Natalie Bezruchka and also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Irene was an active member and Past President of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Women's League and canvasser for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Family will receive friends at MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent St, Niagara-on-the-Lake, on Thursday July 6, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Vigil prayers will be held at 2:30 PM at the funeral home. A funeral mass will take place at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Friday July 7, 2017 at 1 PM. Rite of Committal to follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.
For those wishing to make a donation, the family would welcome donations, in memory of Irene, to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. A heartfelt thanks to everyone at Amica St. Catharines Place Retirement Residence and CCAC for your kindness, compassion and care.
