WIENS, Henry Jacob - It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, with family by his side, on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, at the age of 95. Husband of Jeannie Wiens. Loving father of Angelika (Scot) Whitham, Margret Wiens and John (Jill) Wiens. Dear Opa of Robert (Amm) Zablocki, Chad (Severn) McMillan, Vanessa (David) Lester, Todd (Kristen) McMillan, Justin (Megan) Wiens, Jordan (Laura) Wiens, Jeniah Wiens, and Uhr Opa to 10 great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Predeceased by his sister Eva Marie Wiebe. Henry was a member of the Niagara Credit Union- member credit council for 28 years, of which 24 were as chairman, T.V. Ontario- 9 year Director, 2 years, financial director, Shaw Festival- 6 years Director of Planning and then Vice Chairman of Community relations, Niagara Township-13 years on the Planning Board and 5 years on the committee of adjustment, Virgil Business Men’s Association- Founding Member, director, and 2 years President and Bethany Mennonite Church member.
The family will receive friends at MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent St., Niagara-on-the-Lake on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Bethany Mennonite Church, 572 East and West Line, Virgil, on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. For those who wish, memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, would be appreciated by the family.
